Welcome
My practice merges the human form with bold mark-making and energetic expression, creating an intuitive exploration of presence rather than literal representation. Working between expressionism and abstraction, I allow spontaneity and considered gesture to coexist—each mark carrying both emotion and intent.
Living in the Bay of Plenty has become inseparable from my work. The region’s vivid yet soothing light, particularly the shifting colours of its sunsets, informs my palette and creates mood. Alongside this, regular life-drawing practice continues to deepen my understanding of the human figure, I also like to dive into the ever challenging world of portraiture.
At the centre of my practice is the female form. I am drawn to the evolving lines, weight, and lived-in surfaces of women’s bodies and faces—wrinkles, softness, strength, and traces of experience that speak to a life fully inhabited. Rather than hiding these qualities, my work honours them, positioning itself in quiet opposition to cultural narratives that equate beauty with youth or perfection.
Through layered texture, expressive colour, and imperfect mark-making, I seek to create mood and emotional reactions. The tension between abstraction and form allows space for the viewer to feel rather than decipher. While I continue to refine my technical skills through structured study, my largely self-taught approach keeps the work instinctive, honest, and alive.

Get to know me
I am a contemporary artist based in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. After a long hiatus from my practice following the loss of someone very dear to me, I returned to art with renewed clarity and conviction. That loss reshaped my understanding of time and purpose, teaching me the importance of following what matters most. As a teenager growing up in the nineties, I dreamed of becoming an artist—romanticising the idea of a New York loft studio, the kind immortalised in films. While my path looks different, the dream remains intact. Largely self-taught, my practice is intuitive, honest, and deeply felt. My work reflects a commitment to presence, beauty, and lived experience—art made intentionally, and with raw emotion.
